The Path Home: Reflections on Truth and Reconciliation

We are very excited to share this short film commissioned by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Canada titled The Path Home, which gives a brief glimpse into the spiritual dynamic of a deeply complex conversation. Over the past six years, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada carefully unveiled the era of the Indian Residential Schools to the world. At seven national events, some 7,000 survivors of the schools shared their stories, bearing witness to both the horror and the hope of over 150,000 children that were forced to attend the schools.

The Path Home seeks to contribute to the important work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission through the experiences, insights and ideas of over 15 individuals. In its 2012 submission to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the National Spiritual Assembly states, “When we speak of reconciliation we are referring to the movement towards peace and unity, and the individual and collective transformation that is required in order to achieve that goal.”

The individuals in this film spoke from their hearts and entrusted their stories towards the movement mentioned above. Although they were from Vancouver to Montreal, elders and youth, survivors and those who bear their legacy; truth and reconciliation is a path all can follow towards peace and unity.
