The Unquenchable Flame: A Musical Drama About Tahirih

The Unquenchable Flame is a musical drama composed by Russell and Gina Garcia and performed principally by Tierney Sutton, a masterful vocalist. It tells the story of Tahirih, heroine and 19th century Iranian emancipator of women’s rights (you can read more about her in this Baha’i Blog article).

Composed and recorded in the 1990’s, this incredible contemporary opera was never released until recently when Gina, and her granddaughter Kristy Corwin, fulfilled Russ’ dying wish that this score be made available to the world. Equality: A Persian Hip-Hop Album by Pouya Ebrahimi

As someone who’s a huge fan of hip-hop and rap, and someone who listens to a lot of international hip-hop too, I was so excited to hear the beats and rhymes of Persian rapper Pouya Ebrahimi as he took the stage at the Grand Canyon Baha’i Conference last year in Arizona, USA.

Pouya moved to the U.S. two years ago as a Baha’i refugee from Iran, and he recently released an album called Tasaviye Hoqooq which in Persian means ‘Equality.’ I decided to catch up with Pouya to find out more about him and his music, and because he was more comfortable speaking in Persian, I interviewed him in Persian and then translated it into English. To celebrate Baha’i Blog’s 6th year anniversary, we posted our top 10 articles of the year, and our top 10 video posts of the year, so now it’s time to list our top 10 most poular audio posts of the year!

Baha’i Blog has an Image Section, our Article Section, a Video Section, and an Audio Section, where we’ve published about 200 audio posts consisting of both original content produced by Baha’i Blog, and curated content made by others found on the web (but always taking copyright seriously of course).

In this top 10 countdown, we list the top 10 audio posts with the most amount of traffic posted to our Audio Section from Naw-Ruz 2016 to Naw-Ruz 2017 based on Google Analytics.
