Three Months of Baha’i Blogging!

It’s been three months since Baha’i Blog’s official relaunch and what an amazing three months it has been! We’ve really grown rapidly in a short span of time, thanks to the amazing support of our lovely readers who have given us constant encouragement, some really great feedback and have spread the word by following us on Facebook and telling friends about us.

Everyone at Baha’i Blog is really excited about being involved with the larger efforts to encourage blogging among Baha’is. It’s been incredibly heartening to see the Baha’i Blog team start to grow from just 5 people in Melbourne, Australia to a dynamic and international community of readers and contributors from all over the world!

Using ‘The Greatest Name’

A few days ago we published a post here on Baha’i Blog featuring 6 Baha’i iPhone Wallpapers, however I noticed a few Facebook and email comments pointing out that perhaps it’s not appropriate to have The Greatest Name or a photo of the door to the shrine of the Bab used in this manner. This seems sensible, so I first wanted to let our readers know that we’ve now updated the post with two fresh wallpapers featuring Baha’i quotes replacing the other two wallpapers. And second of all I thought I’d share some quotes that my fellow Baha’i Blogger Naysan found on the subject of The Greatest Name and its usage. Continue reading

Social Discourse: Blogging while Baha’i

This post, as the title might suggest, is going to be about blogging. And why I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

But you already know all about that. You know what blogs do. You know what they look like. You might even have a few favourites that you check regularly. You’re an internet-savvy citizen of the world wide web with sophisticated tastes. (Clearly the case if you’re reading Baha’i Blog!) You’ve mastered the art of using Google to become a mini-expert in just about any field and you can make a sentence using “facebook” as a verb.

So, you know what blogs are about. Age of technology, yadda yadda. Online communication, blah blah blah. Really, what else possibly needs to be said about blogging? Probably not all that much. Except for this:

You need to be part of this.

Yes, you – sitting there, reading this. Why? Good question.

Welcome to the Newly Relaunched Baha’i Blog

Hello and welcome to the newly relaunched Baha’i Blog! I’m Preethi, your friendly editor, who together with Collis, Naysan and Vahid, make up the Baha’i Blog team. So, what exactly is Baha’i Blog? Baha’i Blog is a project which aims to create a cosy little nook in the blogosphere for Baha’is and friends of the Faith alike. As Baha’is, we all know what it’s like to live with an awareness that you truly do have family (spiritual, if not biological) all over the world. This blog aims to mirror that by creating an online community around the Baha’i Faith and connecting people from all over the world.

Baha’i Blog first found life as a project run by Ryan Lash some years back, but with his hectic travel schedule, Ryan kindly permitted the site to be recreated and relaunched as you see it now. We’ve gone live on Naw-Ruz 2011 and in our first few months will be working on making the blog an online resource where Baha’is and friends of the Faith around the world are able to access a wealth of information.
