Here at Baha’i Blog we’re always looking for contributions from new writers, so whether you’re a seasoned wordsmith or an inexperienced newbie, we would love to have you on board.
If you’re interested in trying your hand at blogging about the Baha’i Faith and have an idea for a blog post that you think would fit right in, then we’d love to hear from you!
Here’s how it all works:
100% Original Content
All Baha’i Blog posts/articles must be 100% original content, which means they haven’t been published anywhere else before, whether on or offline.
Our posts should be written in a conversational and personal tone and anecdotes are great.
Also, make sure you stay on topic and the subject of the post is always the main focus. It’s easy to use the topic to talk about yourself, but make sure you use your own personal experience as a vehicle to discuss the topic rather than the topic being the vehicle to talk about you.
The length of most posts should be approximately 1,000 words (including quotations), but this also depends on the type of post you’re writing. So for example, a ’round-up’ post like 10 Great Introductory Books on the Baha’i Faith, or a ‘news-type’ post like this one about the release of the Frontiers of Learning film doesn’t necessarily need to be that long, but an average full-length post like Some Background to What’s Been Happening to the Baha’is in Iran should sit around the 1,000 word mark.
Stand-alone Posts Only Please
All of our posts must ‘stand-alone’, which means that we do not accept posts written as a series. You can of course link to other relevant posts, but our readers should be able to read your post without having to have read posts in any particular order.
We take copyright very seriously and the images we use for our posts are extremely important to us. We generally buy images from PhotoDune or use images from Flickr which have a Creative Commons license. We’re happy to have you recommend images for your post from either of these two sites.
Baha’i Blog is a Half Light Media project, a not-for-profit organization aimed at serving the needs of the Baha’i community through the arts and media. Because we’re a not-for-profit, we obviously appreciate all the help we can get, so contributing your time to write for us free of charge is always appreciated, but we’ve also managed to get a little bit of funding so we can pay for posts if you prefer. Once you’ve had your first article published on Baha’i Blog, you will be eligible to receive US$60 for each additional (1,000 word) post of yours that gets published on the blog.
If you like how all of this sounds and you’d like to write for us, or if you have any questions, then please send me an email at email@example.com
